April 2012- Chill times in Texas

Sooooo- Before heading to the next show I dropped in on my mom and dog and got to see Lydia (my other dog) by the grace of that {awful} XGF of mine. Is it bad to miss a dog more than a person? Anyways, it’s Texas time and we are south of Dallas- Waxahachie, Texas! That’s right, a four week run at the Scarborough Renaissance Festival. As in Sioux Falls, we were sharing a stage with the one and only Daniel the Duke of Danger. Now this being my first real time at this faire, i gotta say- it’s a beautiful site. We are staying above the white horse bar- which is awesome! They have these weird water fountains though- my favorite being the knight with a pot in his crotch. The after show canteen is fantastic with nightly music and good people. Now I never thought I’d be saying this about Texas but it was quite chilly. I was surprised by the chilliness- especially after we insulated the cooler from the fridge of the bar we were staying over. This was a time of reflection and artistic writing and work. Why? No Internet and very little to do- since I know little of Texas and wanted to keep my travel time down since I’m planning on going to Europe this summer. I started on finally putting my Tortuga Twin movie on paper. Yes, a Tortuga Twins movie. If I had my druthers, time and money it’d star all six of us with cameo appearances of some of our friends from circuit. And no- I’m not posting it on here. Ok, I might later on but not now.
Let’s see- went to Dallas and went to the 6th floor museum… there are x’s in the street that mark where Kennedy was hit. Of course I went out to the grassy knoll. This was of course with the lovely lady Dianne LaChance (Lulu to those who also might know her). She’s the reason I’m running off to Europe. We actually stayed at the Adolphus Hotel in downtown Dallas. A 5 star hotel. Let me tell you, it price is not worth the hype. I’d rather spend 200$ less and spend the night in a place where I can park for free and get a Continental breakfast. We hit up some of the best BBQ I’ve ever had- it’s a little out of the way place called off the bone- and then spent time in the botanical gardens.
We also checked out the haunted areas of the sleepy little Waxahachie. Fish is a little restaurant called the Catfish plantation. Pretty good food but no spook abound while we were there. the place tends to play it up abit with halloween stuff sticking around which is a little tacky but then again this is Texas. The next haunted endeavor was the Rogers Hotel. the place is no longer a hotel (as of 2006 I think) but is bustling with a bar downstairs, a restaurant and several business upstairs. There is a creepy vibe coming from room 409 but that’s about it folks. I got an awesome new mug from Irish that has the straw built right into it- my only fear, it’s ceramic. Well- that’s the report from Texas- it’s a blast and i hope to be back next year for a full run, we will see! Next up, back to Muskogee!

Crowded elevators smell different to midgets.
